Thekkady (Idukki region) is the area of the Periyar National Park, which is a paramount vacation spot in the Kerala condition of India Thekkady is found around 257 km (160 mi) from Trivandrum, 114 km from Madurai City and Madurai Airport, 145 km from Cochin International Airport and 114 km from Kottayam route station. Good one. Thekkady (Periyar Tiger Reserve), is one of the oldest protected areas in the country. The Mulla Periyar Irrigation Dam, an engineering marvel of its time in 1895, inundated a large tract of forestland and created a 26-sq km lake, which is today the main watering hole of the Reserve.
