Vadakkunnathan Temple  is an aged Hindu sanctuary committed to Shiva at city of Thrissur, of Kerala state in India. This sanctuary is an exemplary illustration of the compositional style of Kerala and has fantastic towers on every one of the four sides furthermore a kuttambalam. Painting artworks delineating different scenes from Mahabharata can be seen inside the sanctuary The altars and the Kuttambalam show vignettes cut in wood. The sanctuary, alongside the painting canvases, has been proclaimed as a National Monument by India under Ancient Monuments and Archeological Sites and Remains Act According to prevalent nearby legend, this is the first sanctuary manufactured by Parasurama, the sixth incarnation of Vishnu. Tekkinkadu Ground, circling the Vadakkunnathan Temple, is the primary venue of the Thrissur Pooram.non-Hindus are not permitted to go into the sanctuary ,In the year 2012 Archeological Survey of India (ASI) has suggested 14 locales, including Vadakkumnathan Temple and castles, from Kerala to incorporate in the rundown of UNESCO World Heritage Sites
